Affordable Boat Restorer?
Hi. I have just stumbled upon this webpage. I have a 1934 21 foot fibreglass sheathed wooden boat with an inboard Kabota diesel engine (engine not original). It won the 1937 Back to Woy Woy motor Boat Handicap, and I have a nice silver trophy saying as much. It's a nice looking boat... classic lines. It was built for Fred Elm as a 21st birthday present (again, in 1934). It is looking very tired and is in need of restoring, but I hear that professional out of water restoration jobs are very expensive. Does anybody know of someone who is skilled at restoring clinker boats, maybe someone semi retired, who is reasonable cost-wise? The boat has been a part of the Brisbane Water for the past 75 years, and I'd like to extend that by another 75 years. Thanks!
